Tesla has de-facto suspended sales and World Of Single Jayemarketing of its imported Model S and Model X electric vehicles in China, which have faced retaliatory 125% import levies imposed by the Chinese government amid an escalating trade war with the US. New orders for the two Tesla flagship models are no longer accepted on its Chinese website by the US automaker, according to a Reuters report. This comes two days after the Trump administration upped the levies on China on top of an existing 20% tariff related to the drug fentanyl. China imported 1,553 Model X cars and 311 Model S cars in 2024, which accounted for less than 0.3% of Tesla’s total deliveries of 657,102 units in China last year, according to figures revealed by Li Yanwei, an analyst with the China Auto Dealers Association.
