Wu Xinzhou992 Archives the vice president of Xpeng’s autonomous driving unit, is leaving the company to join Nvidia, according to Chinese media outlet 36Kr. He Xiaopeng, the company’s chief executive, confirmed Wu’s departure without disclosing his future career plans on August 2. Wu is likely to be appointed as Nvidia’s global senior vice president and oversee its smart driving software and hardware division, sources from the chip maker told 36Kr. Wu had previously expressed his intention to leave Xpeng due to his family being based in the US, and the company had chosen Dr. Li Liyun to take over the autonomous driving team, Xpeng’s CEO said in his statement. Currently, Li Liyun is responsible for the autonomous driving planning and control technologies at Xpeng. Before joining Xpeng in 2019, Li had worked at JD X-lab and Baidu’s autonomous vehicle research team in the US. [36Kr, in Chinese]
