On August 1680p Archives China’s largest battery maker CATL unveiled the world’s first 4C superfast charging LFP battery, the Shenxing superfast charging battery, according to Chinese media outlet 36Kr. The battery can support vehicles to run 400 kilometers after a 10-minute charge, and offers an extended range of over 700 kilometers after being fully charged, the firm said at its product launch event. Shenxing is set to achieve mass production by the end of this year and EVs equipped with Shenxing are expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2024, according to the company. From January to July this year, the cumulative shipment of LFP batteries in China reached 125.6 GWh, accounting for 68.1% of the total shipment of all batteries, with a year-on-year growth of 59.6%. In July, CATL’s shipment volume for LFP batteries reached 6.86 GWh, capturing a market share of 31.69%, lower than BYD’s 43.18% market share with a shipment capacity of 9.35 GWh, according to data from China’s battery industry association CABIA.
